Press On to Know the Lord

This seven-week blog series has helped us walk through one of the most searching and hope-filled messages in Scripture – the call to know the Lord.

Not to know about Him in a casual or distant way, but to know Him as He has chosen to be known: through His Word, through lived obedience, and through steadfast love.

The prophet Hosea shows us that spiritual drift rarely begins with open rebellion. More often, it begins quietly. God’s Word moves from the center to the margins. Listening gives way to familiarity. Devotion turns into routine. And over time, knowledge of God is replaced by religious activity that no longer transforms the heart.

Yet Hosea also reminds us of something just as important: God never stopped calling His people back.

Throughout this series, we’ve seen a clear pattern emerge.

When God’s Word is neglected, knowledge fades.

When knowledge fades, faithfulness erodes.

When faithfulness erodes, dryness and confusion follow.

But when God’s people return – when they listen again, remember again, and respond again – God is faithful to meet them. He comes “as sure as the dawn.” He comes “like the rain.” He restores life where there has been dryness and clarity where there has been confusion.

This is why the call of Hosea 6:3 matters so deeply:

"So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.”

Pressing on means more than a moment of repentance or a week of focused devotion. It means choosing a path. It means acknowledging God daily – bringing what He has already revealed into how we think, decide, worship, and live. It means allowing His Word to shape us over time, not just inspire us occasionally.

And it means remembering what God ultimately desires:

“I delight in steadfast love rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”

God is not after empty religion. He is after hearts that know Him and lives that respond to Him with faithful love.

If this series has stirred something in you – a conviction, a hunger, a sense of return – don’t rush past it.

Let it lead you somewhere.

Return again to Scripture.

Keep listening. Keep acknowledging God in daily life. Keep pressing on.

This series is ending, but the invitation continues.

Let us know Him more and more each day.

Praying with you,

Pastor Bob
